TABS Plugin

A wiki page or other content type can now easily be given a tabbed format with different content shown in each tab. When each tab is selected the individual tab content is instantly shown without refreshing the page.

As illustrated below the TABS Plugin lets you apply custom labels to each of the tabs and a "No Tabs" option lets all the content be shown in a concatenated format.

 
Please note that this Plugin is best used with the standard Wiki editor instead of the WYSIWYG editor.

INCLUDE Plugin

A element of content from one wiki page can now be 'included' in another page with a simple Plugin.

The INCLUDE plugin allows a 'source' page to be defined and the content from that page included, starting from a define section of text within the page and finishing at another section of text within the page.

This is useful for two main use cases:

1. where you have a standard set of text that needs to be added, perhaps as a disclaimer or as a footer of some description, to multiple pages - but the included text needs to be updated from time to time. Use of the INCLUDE plugin allows the standard text to be updated in one place and then all places where it is 'included' are automatically updated.
2. where you have some area within a page that should only be updated by one individual, but multiple editors can generally edit the page. This may be because of a formal change control process or because a particularly complex section of content should only be 'touched' by a more experienced editor. By 'including' the text that needs to be protected, the page where it is 'sourced from' can be 'locked' by the editor that is allowed to change it, thus restricting its access.

Carousel Plugin - for a set of rotating images

A set of rotating images can now be created, as illustrated below, with the use of a plugin and some specialised formatting techniques.

 
Individual images are stored in a File Gallery in the normal way so new or updated images can easily be added to the 'carousel', and image 'control' icons are displayed within the images to pause/restart the carousel and to move one image at a time in either direction.

The example above (taken from www.transitionmarlborough.org) has the text embedded in the actual images, but an option also exists to create separate text for each image which is shown when the individual image is displayed.

Twitter feed - insertion in a page

Now you can easily insert a real time feed from any specific Twitter account into a wiki page or other content type used on your web site.

Illustrated below is the UKERC Twitter feed:

 
The size and background + font colours for the feed module can be formatted to match your web site style or to reflect the 'brand' of the Twitter account source.

FILE and FILES Plugins

Creating downloads from wiki pages or other content types can now easily be achieved with either the FILE or FILES Plugins.

As illustrated in the box below, the FILE Plugin displays a link to a file (either from the File Gallery or an attachment to a Wiki page).

 
Alternatively you can use the FILES Plugin to display a designated list of downloadable files from multiple File Galleries in a table format.

More new, flexible options for IMG Plugin

The IMG Plugin that lets you display an image in an individual wiki page or other content type is now more flexible than ever.

You can now invoke the Plugin by simply clicking the icon in the editor toolbar, which then displays the Plugin Editor as a pop-up as illustrated in the screen shot below:

 
In this screen there are a number of options for defining which image to display, plus some formatting options, but the main fields that you will use in this first section of the screen are as follows:

• File ID: just enter the fileID# of the image that has been stored in the File Gallery
• Image height or Image width: this lets you rescale the image by either setting the pixel size or the % of the screen width available. You need only set either the width or the height and the other dimension will be scaled proportionately

 
If you click the "Advanced options" button and scroll down further, then further options are shown as illustrated below:

 
The main fields that you will use in this second section of the screen are as follows:

• Align image: this aligns the image left or right so that the subsequent text will 'flow around' the image
• Image style: if you are familiar with HTML/CSS notation then this field allows you to apply any of the permissible style parameters. The most common use you will have is to be able to set some space around the image which you can do independently for all four sides e.g. the following text in the field sets a 10px space to the right and a 5px space to the bottom

BOX Plugin

A flexible way to create styled boxes within a wiki page or other content types is now possible using the BOX Plugin. It is recommended that this Plugin is only used with the standard Wiki editor and not the WYSIWYG editor.

Below is an example of the syntax, where parameters in brackets are optional - other styling parameters are available:

IFRAME plugin

The IFRAME plugin allows you to insert an IFRAME into a wiki page in which another web site can be displayed in real-time.

There are a number of parameters which can be configured as shown in the plugin editor screen shown below:

New SEO capabilities

Enmore developed this capability for version 4.x of the system software, so clients who are moving from 3.x LTS to 6.x LTS will now be able to exploit it.

What is now possible is to use the wiki page description, that is input in the "Properties" tab of the editor, to define a unique meta description tag for the resultant HTML page.

This is important since prior to this change every page in the system had to have the same meta description tag - which search engines, such as Google, report as a problem and does not produce an optimal approach for indexing by search engines.

The screen shot below shows how individual description text can be input in the last field of the "Properties" tab:

 
Once the page has been saved, the meta data for the page is updated so that the meta description tag uses this text, as shown in the screen shot below:

More features for Table of Contents plugin

The new 6.x LTS system software now provides more features for the very useful plugin that allows a 'linkable' Table of Contents to be automatically generated for the wiki pages within a Structure.

In the screen shot below a simple {toc} plugin is used to generate a Table of Contents for all the pages below this one in the Structure, where the links are the wiki page names.

 
Using the plugin editor for the toc will however provide you with access to the screen shown below where all the various parameters for the plugin can be set.

 
Each of the parameters is used as follows:

• Maximum depth: lets you set how 'deep' the TOC should be displayed when the wiki pages of the Structure are arranged in a complex/deep hierarchy.
• Structure ID: is a very useful new parameter that allows you to display a TOC from another Structure, in any wiki page, even if it is not in a Structure itself.
• Order: allows you show the TOC in either ascending or descending order of the pages within the Structure.
• Show Description: is a useful parameter that lets you display a linkable list of the page descriptions instead of the page names. An example of this is shown in the final screen shot below.
• Show Numbering: allows the hierarchical numbering scheme for the pages in the Structure to be shown.
• Type: allows a more 'fancy' style for the TOC to be used.
• Page name: is another particularly useful parameter that allows the TOC from a different page within the Structure to be displayed. For example if you want the full TOC of the whole Structure to be displayed on any page (instead of just the pages that are below the current page, which is the default) then you simply enter the name of the page at the top of the Structure in this field.

 
This extended range of TOC features now allow you to create more sophisticated displays and importantly allow you to automatically generate improved navigation aids for your users.

New Low Cost 'Web Management' Package
